Located on the Minas Face of Serra da Mantiqueira, in the south of the State of Minas Gerais, is the Region of Mantiqueira de Minas, producer of high quality coffees.

With a centuries-old tradition in coffee growing, at altitudes between 900 and 1500 meters, it has a different terroir, due to the climate and environment, favorable to the production of specialty coffees.

Coffee growing is in its fourth or fifth generation, demonstrating the regional potential and the preservation of man in the countryside.

In the year 2000 began the work of Geographical Indication, seeking recognition and appreciation of the region for the high sensory quality of the coffee produced.

In June 2020, it was recognized as "Denomination of Origin" by the National Institute of Industrial Property - INPI, confirming that our coffees have unique characteristics, linked to natural and human factors.

Comprised of 25 municipalities, the region has 8,041 producers, 83% of which are small producers, making a total of 55,000 hectares, with an average annual production of 1,150,000 60kg bags.

With a minimum score of 83 points, our Seal of “Denomination of Origin” guarantees the consumer a product with origin and quality, with unique, differentiated characteristics. The predominant sensory attributes of Mantiqueira de Minas coffees are sweetness and a mild citrus acidity.

The governance of the Mantiqueira Region of Minas is carried out by cooperatives, COCARIVE, COOPERRITA, COOPERVASS and Rural Producers Unions, forming the Council of Representatives, which together plan, organize and promote the Region.

The coffee growing in the Mantiqueira Region of Minas is, at the same time, traditional and modern.

COCARIVE HISTORY 

COCARIVE is a coffee cooperative located in Carmo de Minas, a city in the south of Minas Gerais state, founded 60 years ago, thanks to the spirit of union and entrepreneurship of the coffee farmers in the region. Since then, we have been working with our associates to improve the quality and the process of the coffee produced in the lands of the 26 neighboors cities.

Our associates are mostly small farmers (80%) who are in familiar agriculture and always in seek of improving and evolving on coffee growing and a lot of them have been awarded in the most recognized quality concourses plus we hold the world record scores in Cup of Excellence in both categories (natural and pulped natural), due to the hard work, effort and love the producers put into it.

Always looking for the social-economical development of the region, COCARIVE promotes several events during the year to help the associate in the hole high quality coffee growing process. We also export their coffees to the five continents in the world, trying to find the best market to get the financial recognition they deserve.

The cooperative is inserted in Mantiqueira de Minas region, recognized worldwide by its quality with differentiated sensorial notes. These lands are in high altitudes varying of 900 to 1,400 meters, with excellent pluviometric indexes and a mild and favorable climate to specialty coffees growing. MM is reknown as Denomination of Origin, a seal that guarantees the quality and the origin of the coffees produced in those blessed lands.
